From 8 – 10 October, the 2019 Joint Annual Meeting of the networks SoftComp and EUSMI was held in Portonovo (AN), Italy. The scientific programme had a new format, featuring for the first time external plenary speakers and three topical sessions in addition to the contributions emerging from the general SoftComp and EUSMI scientific activities. “Single-Molecule methods in Soft Matter, “3D Printing”, and “Biophysics” were this year’s topical sessions.

Two other new elements introduced were the dedicated “Young Scientists” session, and a poster session which allowed mainly early-stage researchers to present their work. The new format was very well received by most participants, who numbered over 120 in total, and will be retained for future events, with changing topical sessions each year.

The organizers would like to thank all participants for attending the meeting, as well as the authors contributing an oral presentation or a poster. Special thanks go to the external plenary speakers for their inspiring lectures.
