The SoftComp/EUSMI Annual Meeting represents the forum for all SoftComp participants to discuss scientific work performed and the realization of next joint goals.

The SoftComp/EUSMI Annual Meeting 2023 will take place in Ancona, Italy, and it consists of three full days from May 23 through 25, 2023.

The tentative programme of the SoftComp/EUSMI Annual Meeting 2023 is not yet available.

The meeting includes the following sessions:

  • Six plenary speakers:
    • Stefano Aime (ESPCI) – tentative title “Everything flows… but how? A quest for the microscopic origin of yielding”
    • Julian Oberdisse (CNRS Montpellier) – tentative tile “Polymer structure and dynamics  in solvents and nanocomposites: from microgels to interfacial layers”
    • Evelyne van Ruymbeke (Univ. Catholic de Louvain) – tentative title “The importance of the interplay between entanglements, supramolecular dynamics and phase separation”
    • Gijsje Koenderink (TU Delft) – tentative tile “Mechanical behavior of soft living matter”
    • Jan Smrek (Univ. Vienna) – tentative title “Active ring melts and topological glasses”
    • Veronique Trappe (Univ. Fribourg) – tentative title “Memory of shear in soft jammed materials”
  • Two topical sessions
    • Biophysics and biomechanics
    • Particulate materials, gels and pastes
  • Oral sessions
    • Heterogeneous polymeric systems and nanocompositeGeneral: Polymers and responsive networks
    • Polymers and responsive networks
    • Active and living soft matter
    • New methods and techniques for soft matter
    • Interfaces and surface active matter

Oral presentations will be reserved only to researchers showing recently published or unpublished results.

  • Young Scientists session: the Chairs will review the submissions of young scientists, select “keynote” presentations , and assign young scientists to chair the session
  • Poster Session

The Annual Meeting Chairs are Dr. Laurence Ramos, CNRS Montpellier, France, and Dr. Dimitris Vlassopoulos, FORTH, Greece.

The Annual Meeting will be held at the Mole Vanvitelliana, Ancona, Italy.

The SoftComp central budget will cover the full meeting costs, the subsistence/accommodation costs from May 22 through May 26, and travel costs (up to a max of 250 euro per person) up to four persons per group. Flights and trains can be booked without any authorization, while the use of private car to reach Ancona shall be authorized in advance. Please note that the nearest airport is Ancona, with daily flights from Munich. Transportation from the Ancona airport and train station to the hotels and from the hotels to the Ancona airport and train station will be organized for all the participants, provided that travel details are duly reported in the registration form by May 17, 2023.

The SoftComp Management will charge the 4 persons with most expensive costs to the SoftComp central budget, all others will pay their stay directly at the hotel on the check-out. The central budget covers the costs from May 22 though May 26 2023.

Please note that the accommodation until 22 May and after 26 May 2023 are not full board, but Bed&Breakfast, with the following prices:

Bed & Breakfast: Single room 69€; Double room 94€, three bed-room 124€.

Between May 22 and May 26

Half Board: Single room 94€; Double room 144€, three bed-room 199€.

2€ per night per person city Tax.

Seeport Hotel

Bed & Breakfast: Single Economy room 105€, Single Standard room 125€, Single Superior room 165€, Double Standard room 175€, Double Superior room 215€.

2€ per night per person City Tax.

Dinner 22: at NH Hoteles for all the present participants, regardless of their accommodation (NH Hoteles and Seeport Hotel)

Lunch 23: at the meeting venue for all the participants

Dinner 23: at NH Hoteles for all the participants, regardless of their accommodation (NH Hoteles and Seeport Hotel)

Lunch 24: at the meeting venue for all the participants

Dinner 24: at NH Hoteles for all the participants, regardless of their accommodation (NH Hoteles and Seeport Hotel)

Lunch 25: at the meeting venue for all the participants

Lunch 26: at NH Hoteles for all the present participants, regardless of their accommodation (NH Hoteles and Seeport Hotel)

NH Hoteles and Seeport Hotel are very close each other within 4-5 min walking distance.

 

Call for contributions

You are kindly invited to submit the title and the abstract of your scientific contribution(s) through the abstract submission page, provided by the EUSMI portal (https://eusmi-h2020.eu/meetings/6231e57e49fb9/r)

All contributions will be practically accepted, with the possibility that in case there will not enough time to accommodate all the requested oral contributions, they will become poster presentations.
