In my research I develop new computational techniques for studying disordered systems. In simulations of disordered materials, we can obtain large amounts of structural and dynamical data for individual components of the material. Unfortunately we also need to simulate for long times as processes within these materials take place slowly. The challenge lies in finding patterns within this large dataset, in order to connect the structure with material properties. One way to reduce the problem is to use minima or inherent structures (IS) on the Potential Energy Landscape so that we can remove thermal noise and group structures together.
