Description

Remco Tuinier is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. He studied food science at Wageningen University and performed his PhD work at the NIZO food research institute and Wageningen University on exocellular polysaccharides and protein-polysaccharide mixtures, for which he received the International Food Ingredient Award in 1999. Subsequently, he worked as Postdoctoral fellow at Utrecht University and as Project Leader at NIZO food research and in 2001 became a staff member at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. Between 2008 and 2015 he worked at DSM ChemTech Center, Advanced Chemical Engineering Solutions, Geleen, the Netherlands. First as Senior and later as Principal Scientist. He combined this with a part-time position at Utrecht University (UU) at the Van 't Hoff laboratory for Physical and Colloid Chemistry. With Henk N.W. Lekkerkerker he wrote the book 'Colloid and the Depletion Interaction' (Springer), which appeared in 2011. Between 2013 and 2020 he held the part-time chair 'Colloid-Polymer Mixtures' at UU. Since 2015 he is full professor of Physical Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology and is heading the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry within the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. Remco Tuinier is a member of the Institute of Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS). Remco is member of the COSI foundation board. Further he chairs the board of the Overbeek foundation.
